The FSHS’s new app YTHSDigi will provide improved health services for higher education students

The health services provided for higher education students have received a significant upgrade with the launch of the new YTHSDigi service by the Finnish Student Health Service FSHS on 6 May 2026. The new service addresses students’ expectations of being able to use a wider range of digital services quickly in one place. The app also provides students with new tools for looking after their health in the form of digital treatment paths. These paths offer self-care material and support for health concerns that are common among students.

“YTHSDigi will help students tackle their health issues flexibly on the go. At the FSHS we have what is probably the most technologically advanced service user base in Finland, and we want to address their needs. We’re constantly improving our digital services to support student wellbeing in more varied, up-to-date ways”, says FSHS Managing Director Annika Saarikko.

Digital treatment paths provide preventive care

With the help of the new Chat and symptom assessment services provided on YTHSDigi, students will be able to seek timely treatment for issues related to general and mental health as well as oral health. This can mean booking an in-person or video appointment, talking to an FSHS professional on the Chat or following one of the digital treatment paths –each student will be referred to the right service for their individual situation.

The digital treatment paths provide preventive care, allowing students to look after their wellbeing whenever it’s convenient for them. The paths cover topics such as mental wellbeing, vaccinations, concentration problems and self-care for temporomandibular disorders.

YTHSDigi also allows students to manage their appointment bookings, talk to FSHS professionals on the Chat or in video appointments, complete treatment questionnaires, view their information and receive notifications related to their care.

“The app isn’t meant to replace individualised care but to provide students with additional options. Promoting health among students is an important investment in the future, as the availability and wellbeing of these future professionals following their higher education studies are critical for the whole society”, Annika Saarikko says.

Support students can rely on, based on Finnish talent

The YTHSDigi app was developed combining the expertise of the FSHS’s healthcare professionals with the advanced solutions of the app development company BeeHealthy, with particular attention paid to data protection and data privacy.

All the functionalities of YTHSDigi are accessible, and the service is available in Finnish, Swedish and English. Feedback from students will be used to further improve the service. For students without access to digital services, the FSHS’s nationwide telephone service and in-person appointments will continue to be available.

The YTHSDigi app will be available for download for all higher education students starting 6 May 2026. Use of the YTHSDigi services is included in the healthcare fee already paid by higher education students.
