The FSHS will serve students on weekdays during the Christmas holidays. FSHS’s digital and remote services will be available on all weekdays. Local services will also be well available. Possible exceptions in services have been listed on this page. The page will be updated if necessary.

Contact for assessment of the need for treatment
The need for treatment can be assessed on weekdays according to the normal opening hours. On normal weekdays, you can contact the FSHS using the service forms provided in the Self online service, via SelfChat or by calling our nationwide service numbers:
- SelfChat will be open on weekdays:
- for oral health questions Mon–Wed 8 am–3 pm, Thu 8 am–1 pm and Fri 8 am – 2 pm.
- for general and mental health questions Mon–Wed 8 am–3 pm, Thu 9 am–3 pm and Fri 9 am–2 pm.
- The service line for hearing-impaired customers on SelfChat will serve according to its opening hours.
- The nationwide telephone services will be available Mon–Thurs from 8 am to 3 pm and Fri from 8 am to 2 pm.
Please note the exceptions for eve days and public holidays mentioned on this page:
- Closed on Christmas from 24 Dec 2025 to 26 Dec 2025
- Shorter opening hours on New Year’s Eve 31 Dec 2025 and closed on New Year’s Day 1 Jan 2026

Exceptions to opening hours on holidays and eves
Christmas, 24 Dec 2025 to 26 Dec 2025
All our service units, SelfChat and our nationwide telephone services will be closed:
- on Christmas Eve, Wednesday 24 Dec 2025,
- on Christmas Day, Thursday 25 Dec 2025,
- and on the day after Christmas, Friday 26 Dec 2025.
New Year´s Eve 31 Dec 2025 and New Year´s Day 1 Jan 2026
- FSHS´s own service units will be open on New Year’s Eve, Wednesday 31 Dec 2025, from 8.00 am to 12:30 pm. The national phone services and the SelfChat lines will serve on New Year´s Eve from 8 am to 12 pm.
- All our service units, SelfChat and our nationwide telephone services will be closed on New Year’s Day, Thursday 1 Jan 2026.
Epiphany 6 Jan 2026
- All our service units, SelfChat and our nationwide telephone services will be closed on Epiphany, Tuesday 6 Jan 2026.

In addition to the above-mentioned public holidays, some of the service units may have small exceptions on weekdays around Christmas and New Year.
FSHS Central
Local appointments

- The service units in Tulli and Hervanta in Tampere will be open on weekdays as usual.
- There will be no local appointments for general and mental health or oral health at the service unit in Hämeenlinna from Fri 2 Jan 2026 to Mon 5 Jan 2026.
- There will be no local appointments for general and mental health or oral health at the service unit in Seinäjoki from Fri 2 Jan 2026 to Mon 5 Jan 2026.
Exceptions to opening hours for patient offices (general advice, paperwork) in FSHS Central
- The patient office at the service unit in Tulli, Tampere will be closed Tue 23 Dec and Fri 2 Jan 2026 (normally open Mon–Fri 9 am to 11.30 am).
- The patient office at the service unit in Hämeenlinna will be closed Fri 2 Jan 2026 (normally open Wed–Fri from 10 am to 11 am).
- The patient office at the service unit in Seinäjoki will be closed from Mon 22 Dec 2025 to Fri 9 Jan 2026 (normally open Mon and Tue 10 am to 11 am).

Exceptions to opening hours for patient offices (general advice, paperwork) in FSHS East
- The patient office at the Kuopio service unit will be open during the Christmas week (week 52) on Tuesday, 23 Dec 2025, from 9:00 to 10:00 (on other weeks, it is open Wed–Fri from 8:00 to 10:00). The patient offices at the Joensuu and Jyväskylä service units will be closed during the Christmas week (week 52).
FSHS North

- During week 52, matters that need to be handled at the patient office can be taken care of at the info desk of the Helsinki, Töölö service unit (open on weekdays, 9:00–11:00 am and 12:00–2:00 pm). The patient offices at the Espoo, Lappeenranta and Lahti service units will be closed from Mon 22 Dec 2025 to Tue 23 Dec 2025.
FSHS West

- The service units in Turku and Vaasa and the services for general and mental health at the service unit in Pori will be open on weekdays as usual.
- There will be no local appointments for oral health at the service unit in Pori Tue 23 Dec 2025.
- There will be no local appointments for general and mental health at the service unit in Rauma from Mon 22 Dec 2025 to Tue 23 Dec 2025.

The right to use FSHS services during the spring semester 2026
In order to be able to use FSHS services even after 1 Jan 2026 you must be registered as present for the spring semester at your institution of higher education. For example using the Self online service and accessing remote appointments require that you have registered as an attending student and the information regarding the enrollment has been transferred to the FSHS.
Please cancel any appointments reserved for the spring semester if you do not continue your studies during the spring semester and your right to use the FSHS services ends at the end of the autumn semester 2025. The appointments are not canceled automatically, and you must manage the cancellation yourself if you want to avoid paying a fee for unattended appointments.
