The health care fee for students in higher education is 71,60 euros for 2021

The Finnish government has verified for the first time ever the health care fee for students in higher education. The health care fee is in 2021 71,60 euros. According to the act on student health care the payment is done in two rates in which case the fee per semester is 35,80 euros.

The Finnish Student Health Care services charges a sum of 40 euros for appointments in which the student has not cancelled, moved the appointment or arrived on time to the appointment. The charge will not be applied if there is an acceptable reason for not showing up at the appointment.

If the healthcare fee is paid after the due date, the student also has to pay a late-payment charge of EUR 5.

The fee is used to finance health services for higher education students. The State finances 77% of the health services for higher education students and the rest, 23%, is financed through the healthcare fee. The amount of the fee is specified in a Government decree, which will be issued annually. Other fees are not collected.
