For SAMK Kankaanpää students, FSHS general and mental health services will be transferred to the FSHS service unit in Pori. The FSHS service unit located at Siltapuistokatu 6 will be open for students from the campus in Kankaanpää starting 1 November 2025. Oral health services are already provided in Pori for Kankaanpää students. The change concerns some 120 SAMK students, less than half of whom have used FSHS general and mental health services on an annual basis.
General and mental health services will be provided by Mehiläinen Kankaanpää until 31 October. Services can also be provided by Mehiläinen Kankaanpää until the end of any ongoing treatment cycles; transfers to FSHS Pori will be agreed upon on a case-by-case basis. Students will be able to contact the FSHS as before using the national Self online service or the telephone service line.
The FSHS has been monitoring the performance of its current service network for three years since its operations doubled. During this time, it has made changes to the network because students don’t always restrict themselves to the FSHS service unit that’s closest to their educational institution and because more than half of contacts take place via digital FSHS services. The new digital service platform to be launched next year will also further improve the use of remote services.
“By using the FSHS service unit in Pori, we can continue to offer Kankaanpää students high-quality services provided by professionals experienced in student health. In addition to in-person appointments at the Pori unit, we also offer effective, high-quality services via remote appointments”, says Regional Manager Piia Niemi.
Kela, which is responsible for organising student healthcare, has approved the FSHS network changes.
