The Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS) has entered into an agreement with the Mehiläinen Group subsidiary BeeHealthy Oy to provide the FSHS with a digital service platform. As a result, the FSHS can start updating its digital services.
The update will allow the FSHS to provide its clients with a wider range of digital services than at present. The goal is to offer students the opportunity to handle as many of their healthcare-related matters as possible by themselves using the digital service platform.
The FSHS has almost a decade of experience in offering digital healthcare services. More than a half of the FSHS general and mental health contacts are carried out through digital channels.
“We have high expectations of the new digital platform. BeeHealthy has demonstrated high quality as a provider of digital platforms for wellbeing services counties. Our clients are higher education students, who are digital natives and well familiar with using remote services and digital communications,” says Teija Kulmala, the FSHS’s Medical Director.
The FSHS is confident the new digital services will improve access to treatment.
“The new service will help to overcome the overloading issues arising from peak demand for services and at the same time make treatment pathways more efficient,” says Kulmala.
BeeHealthy already provides its services to several wellbeing services counties. This gives the FSHS an opportunity to share experiences and ideas about offering digital services with these wellbeing service counties.
“We are extremely pleased and proud to be able to help make the FSHS’s digital services even more client-oriented and effective. The FSHS’s digital services, with the current service structure, are already exceptionally important to its digital native clients. We consider it a privilege to work with the FSHS in an environment already fulfilling the goals of many other organisations that offer social and healthcare services. The BeeHealthy digital platform is designed to be flexible and scalable, and so meets the needs of FSHS professionals and their digitally savvy clients,” says Tommi Uimonen, BeeHealthy’s Director of Finnish Public Sector Clients.
The FSHS chose BeeHealthy as its provider following a public procurement procedure. The choice was based on the highest score for both quality and price. The goal is to introduce the new digital platform at the beginning of 2026.
