Stressless coaching courses at FSHS

A young adult, a student, sits in front of the computer in a large space. They are watching the screen. A voice starts to speak:

“Feeling stressed?

The FSHS StressLess coaching course offers a weekly moment”

The screen now displays a speaker, who is looking into the camera with a calm look on their face. The person is wearing an FSHS staff ID around their neck. The speaker continues:

to pause and focus on your own thoughts and feelings
in a safe and understanding environment.

In the group, you will gain practical tools for managing stress
and explore what works best for you
and what your personal values in life are.

In other words, what truly matters to you
and how you can act in line with your values.

The StressLess coaching course meets eight times in total,
with a small group size of around 8 people.

Groups are held across Finland, both in-person and online.

You can always check the upcoming groups on the FSHS website. You are welcome to join if you have the capacity to learn new skills

FSHS’ anxiety management group

A person sitting by the window on a comfortable chair appears on the screen. The room also includes a bookcase, a lamp, a plant, and a picture on the wall. The person starts to speak in a calm voice:

”Hi! I’m Roosa,
one of the instructors of FSHS’ anxiety management group.

Now the screen displays a group of students that sit on bean bags wearing their student overalls. The camera pauses on one of the students, who sits on a bean bag with a mug in their hand. The student is looking at the ground.

”More than one in three university students
struggles with social anxiety.

It doesn’t discriminate by age—
both students in their twenties and forties can experience this.”

Now the screen displays the person speaking again.

“The FSHS social anxiety group is for you if
you struggle with social anxiety or performance anxiety
and want to find ways to cope with it.

Perhaps you’d like to reduce your avoidance of certain situations
and build more confidence.”

The camera pans vertically across an image of a group of students sitting together at a table.

The group meets weekly,
a total of 8 times with the same members.

The screen displays the person speaking again.

The goal is to better understand your anxiety,
share experiences with others facing the same challenge,
and learn strategies to manage your anxiety
so you don’t have to avoid situations that trigger it.

A key part of the process involves challenging yourself
and exposing yourself to difficult situations.

This helps you build confidence in your ability to handle –”

The screen displays the facade of the FSHS Kuopio service point.

Now the screen displays an FSHS employee sitting in front of a computer with headphones on. They are on the phone to a student, and say this:

“It sounds like you could benefit from our group-based Depression School.

How does that sound?”

Now the screen displays a sitting student wearing their overalls and holding a phone to their ear. The student says in a sceptical tone:

“I’m not sure.”

Now the screen displays a person with an FSHS staff ID card around their neck. The FSHS employee stands in an FSHS treatment room and speaks to the camera:

“Did you know that many students from all over Finland have already participated in our Depression Schools?

Each person has their own story, but what they all share is feeling depression.

Your depression may be mild or moderate, but you don’t need an official diagnosis to participate.”

In a close-up shot, the same person looks ponderous. They continue:

“So, what does the Depression School involve?

A text says: 10 participants, 10 meetings, support, information and self-care instructions to tackle depression.

The image changes back to the employee showcasing The Depression school. They continue:

In the group, you’ll learn self-help skills

and build a toolkit with strategies that are suited to you.

The goal of learning the self-help techniques is to

reduce the onset of severe depression,

shorten the duration of depressive episodes,

and lessen the intensity of depressive periods.”

Now the same person is sitting on a chair in front of a computer, wearing headphones.

“Groups are held both online –”

The employee takes off their headphones.
