The general and mental health services of the Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS) for students at the Mustiala campus of Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) will be transferred to the FSHS service unit in Hämeenlinna. The FSHS service unit at Koulukatu 25 will serve Mustiala students as of 1 November 2025. Oral health services for students have already been provided in Hämeenlinna. This change concerns approximately 500 students at the institution.
General and mental health services will continue to be available at Mehiläinen Forssa until 31 October. Mehiläinen will complete any ongoing courses of treatment. The way students contact FSHS will remain unchanged: students should continue to use the national Self online service or telephone service to get in touch with FSHS.
The FSHS has been monitoring the performance of its current service network for three years since its operations doubled. During this time, it has made changes to the network because students don’t always restrict themselves to the FSHS service unit that’s closest to their educational institution and because more than half of contacts take place via digital FSHS services. The new digital service platform to be launched next year will also further improve the use of remote services.
“By using the FSHS service unit in Hämeenlinna, we can continue to offer Mustiala students high-quality services provided by professionals experienced in student health. In addition to in-person appointments at the Hämeenlinna unit, we also offer effective, high-quality services via remote appointments”, says Regional Director Reetaleena Hietala.
Kela, which is responsible for organizing student healthcare, has approved the changes to FSHS’s service network.
