Instructions for social and health care students concerning infectious diseases and vaccinations

The Infectious Diseases Act and the Government Decree on the prevention of accidents caused by sharp instruments in healthcare also apply to students and other trainees.

Students who do not have adequate protection (acquired either through a personal history of the disease or vaccination) against specific infectious diseases may pass these diseases on to patients and thus put patient safety at risk. Students may also personally develop an infectious disease that could be prevented by vaccination.

Taking standard precautions and avoiding transmission by contact is essential to prevent the spread of multidrug-resistant microbes (e.g. MRSA).
