Dear new student of a university of applied sciences

The Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health has made a decision to implement a three-year pilot experiment from 2011 to 2014 regarding the provision of student health care services for students of universities of applied sciences using the FSHS model. The towns selected for the pilot are Seinäjoki and Lappeenranta.

Why should I use the services of the Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS)?

As a customer of the FSHS you will get expert treatment quickly.

  • We will email all first-year studentshealth inquiry form and invite them, if necessary, to a personal health discussion.
  • You will have free appointments with general practitioners, public health nurses, physiotherapists' advisory sessions and your first oral health check-up.
  • We offer easily accessible oral health services and mental health services tailored specifically for the needs of student-aged people.
  • You will have access to very inexpensive specialist services, such as gynaecologists and dermatologists.
  • Are you planning to travel abroad? You will have access to the FSHS vaccinations and travel health helpline.
  • Our appointment fees are the lowest in Finland.
  • Our services will be available to you in any FSHS health centre around Finland.

How can I get access to FSHS services?

You can become our customer if:

  • you are an undergraduate student of Saimaa or Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences;
  • you are an international undergraduate degree student of Saimaa or Seinäjoki University of Applied Science (short-term exchange students are not covered by FSHS services);
  • your local study unit has entered into and agreement with the FSHS (Lappeenranta and Seinäjoki).
  • you have paid the FSHS annual health care fee.

The FSHS unit in Seinäjoki

Address: Kampusranta 9 C 60320 Seinäjoki. Lines for the Seinäjoki appointment reservations service (phone 046 710 1023) are open from 1 September 2011 from Monday to Thursday between 8.00 and 15.00 and on Fridays between 8.00 and 14.00.
