Basic dental care includes systematic examinations, the prevention and treatment of caries, treatment of dental connective tissues, surgical and occlusal treatment at the level of general dentistry, and the most common X-ray procedures. Dentists well-versed in prosthetics perform prosthetic procedures as resources allow.
When you come in for your appointment, you will also receive preventive treatment and individual health counselling in dental and oral questions.
All first year students receive an electronic health inquiry. The form contains questions relating to your general health and oral health as well as to issues affecting them, to which you may respond electronically.
After studying your answers, a public health nurse and a dental hygienist/dental nurse will reply with a message to you, giving you their assessment of your general health and oral health. If necessary, you will be asked to make an appointment with a nurse and/or for a dental examination or dental care.
Systematic, regular dental care promotes the health of your teeth and mouth, allowing you a troubleless studying time. The most important for the welfare of the mouth and teeth is, however, good self-care, for which FSHS oral health care professionals give you advice and support.
For those who started their studies on 1 September 2005 or later, the first oral health care examination is free of charge. The first visit for examination is always free for undergraduate students regardless of the phase or length of their studies. All later appointments and emergency treatment are subject to charge.
When you have made an appointment, please be sure to come on time. If you need to cancel, please do so no later than the weekday before the appointment (Mon-Fri) by 12 noon.
